Nick Povey

Nick is a qualified and highly experienced aeronautical engineer with extensive experience in all aspects of safety, data and IT management. He has managed several teams both in the safety regulatory environment and in a commercial aviation business. Nick has a proven track record in innovation and meeting tight and taxing objectives. He is experienced in working in an international environment with personnel from widely different organisations and cultural backgrounds. Nick has extensive experience in safety and benefit analysis, including crash survivability, fire safety and explosion hardening. He has a strong knowledge of all aspects of data collection and management related to aviation safety and is highly experienced in web applications, e-business and electronic publishing. In addition, Nick has practical experience of procurement and supplier management including tendering, performance assessment and commercial negotiations.
Since 1988, Nick has held various senior positions with the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Initially working as an Airworthiness Surveyor and then Research Project Manager, specialising in aircraft fire and explosion safety, with extensive collaboration with other National Aviation Authorities, Nick was then invited to join the CAA Corporate Senior Management Group, as Head of Information Management. Most recently his role has been as e-Business Team Manager, involving the detailed design of new regulatory business processes and their data needs - specifically Risk Based Resource Allocation and Safety Management Systems.
Nick holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He is PRINCE 2 project management trained and has attended the Henley Management School.
Nick is regularly asked to present papers at conferences on safety and information management topics.
