As part of our portfolio of services to industry we have developed
and are currently successfully running courses in Aircraft System
Safety Assessment techniques that has been presented in Germany,
Portugal, France, Austria and Brazil as well as in the United Kingdom.
We are able to offer complementary courses in theoretical and practical system safety training:
Safety Assessment of Aircraft Systems - 3 or 5 day course
The course is aimed at engineers that may be involved directly
or indirectly with the System Safety Assessment process, although
it is formulated on the assumption that the participants have had
no previous formal instruction on safety analysis techniques and
processes.
The objectives of the course are
to give participants:
| |
An understanding of the methodology and
analysis techniques for carrying out System Safety Assessments
on Civil Transport Aircraft. |
| |
Familiarity with the mathematics and
statistical distributions involved in the process |
| |
A knowledge of some of the more common
errors encountered in analysing aircraft systems |
| |
An understanding of the interaction between
the safety analysis process and |
| |
systems architecture and how the results
of the safety analysis affect the maintenance and operation
of transport aircraft. |
The duration of the course can be
tailored to suit customer requirements, but typically is spread
over three or five days, and constitutes:
| |
Lectures with question periods. Participants are encouraged
to ask questions during the lectures to ensure a common understanding |
| |
Tutorials where participants will be shown how to solve problems
and will have the opportunity to work on problems. A full set
of course notes will be provided to all participants |

Applied Safety Assessment - 2 or 3 day course
This course covers the practical aspects of conducting safety analysis in the aircraft industry. It takes the form of a series of hands-on tutorials to reinforce the process and techniques involved.
Delegates will carry out analyses of aircraft systems in order to ensure an understanding of both Fault Tree Analysis and Failure Mode & Effect Analysis techniques.
This course interfaces and builds on the ‘Safety Assessment of Aircraft Systems’ course.
The primary learning objectives are to enable the participants to:
- Use Fault Tree Analyses on redundant aircraft systems to identify:
- Active and Dormant failures
- Common Cause failures
- Failures that might result from the system installation
- Systematic and Non-systematic failures
- Failures resulting from Human Error
- Identify critical aspects of the system design
- Understand the benefits and limitations of the analytical technique
- Use Failure Mode & Effect Analyses on aircraft designs in order to gain an understanding of:
- Failure Modes & Effects Analysis Methodology
- The benefits and limitations of the analytical technique
