This database has been constructed by R.G.W.
Cherry & Associates Limited on behalf of the Airworthiness
Authorities participating in the Cabin Safety Research Technical
Group. Further information on the CSRTG may be found on the following
web site www.fire.tc.faa.gov/cabin.stm
The latest version contains accidents up to 2007. A new release
of the database has been published in April 2008.
All data have been derived from reliable sources, primarily from
Accident Investigating Authorities. However, for some accidents
it has not been possible to source an official accident report.
For those accidents, R.G.W. Cherry & Associates are pleased
to be working with the Aviation Safety Network to incorporate additional
accident information onto the Database. So far, additional accident
data from the Aviation Safety Network has been added for the years
1967 to 2006 and it is planned to add further data as part of an
ongoing programme.
Records are stored for transport category passenger aircraft (with
19 or more passenger seats) and cargo aircraft certificated under
Part 25 requirements or equivalent. The database contains photographs
and diagrams as well as textual and numerical data. The database
will be reviewed periodically and data added when available. Any
suggestions for its improvement should be sent by e-mail to database@rgwcherry.co.uk
The database is freely available for use as a resource for improving
aviation safety. Its production has been made possible by the financial
support of the following authorities:
Transport Canada
UK Civil Aviation Authority
US Federal Aviation Administration
